Cthulhu the solar powered emo robot

Solar powered bugbot, he has a small vibrating motor attached to a solar engine and solar cell. He soaks up light till he has enough stored up in his capacitor to run a short burst from the motor. When this happens he wobbles ominously on his many spindly legs. In bright sunshine he leaps about all over the place and will dive floorward unless he is placed on some kind of lipped tray. Under indoor lighting his true evil is revealed... he stores up energy more slowly and when you least expect it off he wiggles making you jump out of your skin.
Spooky little bugger!

There are plenty variations so you’ll find the one that suits your taste.

Powerful x-rays made from sticky tape

Seth Putterman and colleagues from the University of California, Los Angeles used a motor to unwind a roll of sticky tape and recorded the electromagnetic emissions. Ripping the tape from its roll at 3 centimetres per second generated X-ray bursts of 15 kiloelectronvolts - each lasting one-billionth of a second, and containing over a million photons.
The researchers were able to prove the presence of the X-rays by producing pictures of their finger bones. Even peeling ordinary sticky tape can generate bursts of X-rays intense enough to produce an image of the bones in your fingers.

Gasometer City

The 4 gas holders, known as gasometers were built in 1896 as part of the gasworks at Simmering industrial zone, Vienna, Austria. After they were closed down, the 4 historic towers were renovated, converted into apartments, shopping malls and offices and reopened in 2001. The gas that was stored in the enormous tanks was primarily used for street lights and - later - private households. When they were built, the gasometers were the largest in Europe. They are listed by the country’s heritage ministry as outstanding examples of industrial architecture.
The concept of mixed-use building creates a 24 hours occupancy and activity in the gasometers with inhabitants working, living, and entertaining.

The Virtual Autopsy Table

The Norrkoping VIsualization Center and Center for Medical Image Science & Visualization (CMIV) have collaborated on a new product called the “Virtual Autopsy Table”, allowing interactive visualization and manipulation of Dual Energy Computed Tomography and MRI datasets.
Visitors control the autopsy table presentation on a small satellite screen attached to the table. Each step of the medical examiner’s procedure is outlined, from the external exam to opening the body and organ dissection. As a medical examiner explains the examination process, tools, technologies, and techniques are introduced and the life-size projected body is dissected before the audience surrounding the table. The 3-D visualizations were made possible through the use of the data in the Visible Human Project.

Amazing laptop design...the RollTop

Orkin Design created an amazing concept  design different from the traditional roll-up laptop.
By virtue of the OLED-Display technology and a multi touch screen the utility of a laptop computer with its weight of a mini-notebook and screen size of 13 inch easily transforms into the graphics tablet, which with its 17-inch flat screen can be also used as a primary monitor. While the speakers, webcam, USB ports and power supply are based on all-in-one.  This is really an all-in-one gadget. But for now just a concept.
